Using the Computers

Using the Computers

The Savaria Campus Library believes that the visitors’ access to the internet and other digital information sources is of high importance. Our computer services aim to help learning and research.

There are a total of 194 computers for our visitors to use. The Ground Floor Computer
Room has 79 computers, with an additional 3 public computers at the Information Desk (courtesy of the e-Magyarország network). On the First Floor, 46 computers are accessible in the Lending Section, with an additional 12 computers with a functionality limited to searching the library database. The Second Floor Reading Room has a further 54 computers.
Outside of the 3 public e-Magyarország machines, the use of all library computers are limited to visitors with valid reading passes or daily passes.

The computers may be used for accessing the Internet, the Library’s many services and databases, a digital archive of periodicals, an online catalogue and a CD-ROM database.

Visitors can access the university network with the fk username. Visitors purchasing a photocopy card receive their own username.

The following services may be used on the computers:

  • Access to the campus NEPTUN system
  • Internet access
  • E-mail
  • Word
    processing software
  • Spreadsheet software
  • Presentation creation software
  • Multimedia software
  • Printing (on a request basis, fees apply),
  • Scanning (on a request basis, fees apply)
  • CD and DVD burning
  • USB-based drives allowed
  • Downloading of files and documents allowed

Headphones are available from the information desks, to be used for the duration of accessing the computer room’s serviced.

Use of personal portable computers
Visitors may use their portable computers anywhere in the library. Free wireless internet (Wi-Fi) is available for registered visitors.
